Dean's Message

Passion will be the source of energy that pushes us forward.

Established in 1955, the National Taiwan Normal University College of Education’s mission has always been the exploration of frontier knowledge, cultivation of outstanding talent, pursuit of the truth, and betterment of education. The College has slowly but steadily become a global leader in education with its forward-looking educational practice and research. In addition to their contribution at schools across Taiwan, our alumni have had remarkable achievements in various industries in every corner of the world. We expect that in the future, they will surely continue to extend the influence of the College on a global scale.

Student training: Cultivating top-notch interdisciplinary talent

Students are at the core of any educational institution. The rich heritage of the College has attracted outstanding students from around the world. To maintain this heritage, we expect them to participate in internship programs and make a well-rounded career and life plan before graduation. During their studies, students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and participate in different activities, such as international exchanges/visits, dual degree programs, or domestic industry-academia internships, allowing them to be confronted with the many real-life challenges faced by adults and enrich their life experiences. We are committed to empowering students by creating a high-quality learning atmosphere and equipping students with interpersonal, social, and competitive skills that they need in the real world.

Faculty growth: International and industry-academia collaborations in R&D

Teaching, research, and service are the main tasks expected of university professors, and also provide them with a major source of satisfaction. However, the pressure posed by faculty evaluations is indisputable. Therefore, the College provides various resources to support faculty member in aligning their teaching and research goals and adjust the pressure to just the right amount so as to improve educational efficacy and research results. Over the years, our faculty members have achieved remarkable feats in industry-academia collaborations, international publications, academic exchanges, or educational practice research in a manner consistent with ethical norms. We are confident that our faculty members will propel the College towards a world-class benchmark institution in the near future.

Asia-Pacific leader and world-class player

As one of NTNU’s exemplary colleges, the College of Education has obtained great results in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking for Institutions of Education, having ranked among the top 50 for a total of 11 times. We were ranked 31st, 28th, and 26th respectively in the recent three years (2020, 21, and 22), and we are the top-ranked college of education in Taiwan. The establishment of and annual conferences held by academic groups such as the Asia Pacific Association for Teacher Education (APATE) provide a platform for faculty members and students to present their research. Furthermore, several international academic groups are actually led by the departments in the College, which helps boost the significance of the College globally. In the future, we will continue to seek international collaboration opportunities in order to become a leader in the development of global education.

Heritage, sustainability, and the future

NTNU is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and the College of Education plays an important role in passing down the University’s heritage and envisioning its future. We hope to unite the forces of our alumni to give back to the community, improve teaching quality, promote interdisciplinary learning, respond to emerging trends, and ultimately, pave the way for sustainable education development throughout the world. In the following years, the College will continue to optimize its alumni service platform, strive for economies of scale by consolidating our administrative momentum, integrate alumni resources into industry internship programs and international exchanges, and advocate student and faculty development for a more sustainable future.
