The College of Education was established on June 5, 1955, coinciding with the transition of Taiwan Provincial Normal College to Taiwan Provincial Normal University. Initially, it included five departments: Education, Social Education, Physical and Health Education, Home Economics Education, and Industrial Education. Over the years, the College has expanded to encompass seven departments, one professional college, one all-English bachelor program, and two in-service master’s programs. Additionally, the College is renowned for its comprehensive teacher training programs, which span from kindergarten to high school and cover a wide range of critical disciplines.
NTNU’s excellence in education is well recognized, having ranked 9th globally in Education and Educational Research by U.S. News & World Report in 2023 and rising to 7th in 2024. In the latest subject rankings by THE and QS, NTNU placed 38th and 24th respectively in education, maintaining its status as Taiwan’s top institution and a leader among Asian normal universities.
The year 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of NTNU’s College of Education—a pivotal milestone. To express our appreciation for the contributions of former deans and faculty members, and to recognize the dedication of our administrative staff, the College has planned a series of anniversary events aimed at fostering unity and a shared sense of belonging within the College. At the same time, we hope to enrich the international perspective and professional capacity of our faculty and students through diverse forms of exchange and dialogue.
